Later, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) confirmed that the video was fake and had been cut out of context.
Still, the anger had already grown, and protests soon spread into acts of vandalism and looting.
Sri Mulyani was not the only target. Several DPR (House of Representatives) members also had their houses attacked.
On August 30, the home of Ahmad Sahroni in North Jakarta was looted. His luxury cars, household items, and personal belongings were taken.

People were also seen throwing stones and damaging a red Porsche parked at the house.
That same night, the house of Eko Hendro Purnomo (Eko Patrio) in South Jakarta was broken into. Looters carried away branded shoes, Dior bags, and clothing.
Meanwhile, the home of TV personality and DPR member Uya Kuya in East Jakarta was also raided.
Not only valuables were taken, but even his wife’s pet cats, worth millions of rupiah, were reportedly stolen.
These attacks have raised more questions than answers.
